Multimeter: set it to Ω or auto-range and enter the value exactly as the display shows it, with the right unit (Ω, kΩ or MΩ). Press OL if the display shows OL.

CAN line

Red = problem, amber = possible problem, green = OK. Colours appear once there is a result.

Step 1 · Measurement point A (always start here)

Keep the A wires disconnected until you know the next step.

Step 2 · A is OK: short to chassis and wheel test

Use the brown and white wire you disconnected at A.

S1 · Brown wire → chassis (continuity / beep mode)

In resistance mode a value in kΩ or OL is normal here. A beep or only a few Ω means a short.

Wheel test: meter back to Ω, measure between the A wires and turn the wheels of one wheelset at a time.
